Gardening can play a powerful role in supporting wellbeing. It encourages social interaction, physical activity, sensory engagement, stress reduction, and cognitive restoration. It also offers opportunities to learn new skills, rediscover old ones, and experience the satisfaction of nurturing and giving.
This Winter Unit – Part of the Trellis Seasonal Gardening Activities course (one of four seasonal units) is a foundation-level course. It is designed to build your confidence through a wide range of practical gardening activities. It focuses on helping you engage clients in care settings, both indoors and outdoors, using nature-based experiences. Providing practical training in adaptable indoor and outdoor seasonal gardening activities for those working in care and community settings. On completion of this Unit, participants will:
- Increase their understanding of how Winter influences plants and gardening activities.
- Build a repertoire of seasonal gardening activities for use throughout the season.
- Feel more confident adapting activities to meet the needs of individuals and groups they work with.
- Develop skills in planning and reflecting on gardening activities to enhance clients experiences.
No prior knowledge or experience is required.
